Acne Prevention Tips
If there is one phrase that is overused in the health field in general it is the idea that your lifestyle can help you overcome certain health problems. The reason it is an overused phrase however is because there is no truer statement possible. In acne prevention, just as in many other areas of health, you can go a long way towards reducing your problem through some simple lifestyle choices. While acne can not be wholly prevented through lifestyle choice, you can severely reduce the effectiveness of each outbreak and in doing so make your life a lot easier through an acne problem that is far easier to deal with than it was before. In particular, scientists have identified four areas that can have an influence on the acne problems you might have.
Consider Your Personal Hygiene
The first of those four areas is personal hygiene. This is an area that has been popularized in commercials that deal with acne and while many people might be inclined to believe that it is not really that important, consider the root cause of acne. It is usually some sort of clogging within pores of the skin and one of the ways that skin pores can become clogged is if oily material gets into them. You can go a long way towards preventing this from happening on a large scale by aggressively washing your face and hands every day and ensuring that you take a proper shower that cleans all of the different parts of your body. Proper personal hygiene will not guarantee acne removal, but it has been linked to compounding the problem should you decide not to do it.
Are You Getting Enough Sleep?
Another area that has been identified is sleep. The main reason that this is important is because there is a direct link between the amount of rest a body gets and the condition of the various organs within the body. Your skin is the largest organ you have and if you are not getting enough sleep over a long period of time, the quality of your skin will go down and many different problems including acne can start up or get a lot worse as a result. Most sleep scientists would recommend that you get at least eight hours of sleep a night and preferably nine or ten if you can manage it. While their advice might seem a bit ridiculous to people with busy lives, most people are usually able to find the time once they learn about how serious the concern is.
The Sun Is Evil
One particular area of importance has to do with the Sun. Many people are under the impression that sun rays can actually help your acne problem, but as you might now be able to understand, anything that harms your skin can make your acne problems worse. For this reason, activities like sunbathing, if done in a way that is harmful to your skin rather than helpful (i.e. without proper sun blocking lotion), could make your acne problem worse.
Lower Your Stress Levels
Finally, one last area of concern insofar as acne is concerned is stress. Stress contributing to lack of physical well-being is about as overused a phrase as lifestyle choices can improve health, but once again it is overused because it is true. There is a startling correlation between high stress and skin problems and once again anything that negatively affects skin has the potential to make acne worse. If you can at all reduce the amount of stress you have in your life, it would definitely be a good idea for more reasons than just acne prevention.
